This two-hour basic ADA class, led by Patrick Gomez of the FHWA Resource Center, answers many of the frequently asked ADA/504 questions, and lays a solid foundation regarding State & Local Government responsibilities, including:

  • Standards in the pedestrian environment,
  • Standards for buildings and on-site facilities,
  • The current status of PROWAG, – ADAAG v. PROWAG,
  • Construction tolerances, and
  • Technical infeasibility.

The substantive portion of the class is dedicated to Laws, Regulations, and Pedestrian Characteristics/Environment (this includes self-evaluations, transition plans, and the DOJ-DOT Joint Technical Assistance on the Title II of the ADA Requirements to Provide Curb Ramps when Streets, Roads, or Highways are Altered through Resurfacing).

Target Audience: Local staff, advocates, and policymakers.
