Public Outreach/Involvement

  1. Please provide a short summary and/or bullet comments on how you have sought out and considered the needs of all people traditionally underserved by existing transportation systems, and promoted their participation in the planning process. And what new techniques or approaches (a list is fine) are you considering?
  • Surveys
  • Hispanic Interagency meeting

  • Partner Organizations: Attending partner meetings and providing information regarding the transportation projects
  • Fox Cities THRIVES: Working with public health professionals and ESTHER to provide insight regarding their clients transportation needs and trends in transportation that they are seeing.

Note that traditionally underserved populations include populations protected under Title VI (race, color, and national origin) as well as populations protected under other nondiscrimination laws (age, sex, and disability in particular).

  1.  Please summarize your outreach to Tribal Governments, communities, individuals, and/or organizations?
  • The MPO provides materials, presentations, and information to partner organization community residents, communities and Tribal Governments through a variety of communication efforts including but not limited to email, electronic newsletter, on the website, social media, phone calls, etc.

3. Please provide a short explanation of how you assess the effectiveness of your Public Participation Plan. What do you define as success and how do you measure it? How often do you evaluate the effectiveness of your public involvement process?

  • The MPO looks at number of attendees and number of partner organizations that we have presented at or provided information to. For our website and social media outlets, we look at google analytics and the number of hits that are received for social media sites. 

Please be prepared to discuss the following at the site review meeting. A written response is not required.

  1.  What are your public involvement program’s most important goals? Identify the key strategy for achieving these goals. Discuss what’s working well, what needs improvement and whether or not your primary objectives are being met.
  2. What opportunities are provided for public involvement at key decision points in the planning, programming and project development phases of transportation decision-making?
  3. How is the disposition of comments and changes in the final Transportation Plan or TIP documented, analyzed, and reported when significant oral and written comments are submitted?
  4. What influence, if any, do your efforts in public engagement have on the individual public participation efforts of the transit agency?  Are lessons learned passed on? Discuss where joint outreach occurs.
